Private Lessons with Frank F
Frank F

Frank Fyock has conducted orchestras for over thirty years. In addition to instrumental instruction,
Frank teaches young conductors. He encourages young musicians to study conducting. Directing any large group immediately demands a conductor to be an artist.
Frank has a BA from Yankton College and a Master of Composition from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Frank continues to teach the true essence of music, stressing the necessity of a performer to bring his/her personal interpretation to any piece. He always asks his students for their opinions. He believes musicians must actively make artistic decisions for his/her music to be convincing. Artists must own their work, not merely repeat the interpretations of others.
Frank directed the orchestra department at the Denver School of the Arts and was Director of
Instrumental Music at the Vanguard School in Colorado Springs. His orchestras have performed in the
United States and in Russia (Moscow, Novgorod, and Saint Petersberg). In addition, he toured to
and performed in various halls in the Shetland Islands (Scotland). He was invited to perform at the Midwest Music Festival in Chicago and was selected to perform at CMEA eight times.
He has recently begun a study of the Native American flute and the importance of Native American music in any discussion of the American experience.
