Austin is a drummer’s drummer, with over three decades of experience behind the kit and a lifelong dedication to the craft of percussion. His journey began at age 12 in Oklahoma, playing drum set in rock bands and honing his skills on various percussion instruments in concert band. Early on, he developed a passion for marching snare and hand technique—an interest that became a foundational element of his playing and teaching style.

Throughout high school and college, Austin expanded his musical reach through orchestra, jazz band, and multiple rock projects. He went on to earn a degree from the University of Tulsa and later moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated with an associate’s degree in Drum Set Performance from the renowned Musicians Institute. While in L.A., he taught students of all ages at The Neighborhood Music School and the Hermosa School of Dance and Music, and performed professionally across a wide range of genres for over six years.

Austin’s career has taken him around the world, including a year-long performance circuit in Tokyo, Japan, before returning to Los Angeles for two more years of gigging and teaching. Now based in Colorado, he continues to perform with local bands and offers private drum lessons tailored to students of all ages and experience levels.
